Kingswood Close,
Guildford.

This suburban garden in Guildford needed a complete overall. There were several challenges: the garden is wide but fairly shallow, with some unattractive bare conifers and a neighbour’s shed to screen in one corner, plus a slope across the site.

The solution was to set the garden on a 45-degree angle to the house. This draws the eye across the garden to a bespoke louvred pergola over an informal seating area with pleached evergreen trees for screening behind. The garden has been levelled with retaining walls on both sides. The materials are contemporary but harmonise with the planting to create a calm and elegant space.

‘We are delighted with Jonathan’s design for our garden and we receive so many compliments from visitors. The planting scheme he prepared and created is perfect for our needs, during the first summer there were flowers for months, and interest throughout the garden. This was a truly bespoke and collaborative process, exactly what we wanted. Thank you Jonathan.’
